La Mata and Torrevieja Natural Park.
Only 4 kms from Guardamar, you can see a wide variety of aquatic birds in their natural habitat. It is 3700 hectares and it is most famous for the flamingos.
Santa Pola Salt Flats and Lagoons.
Where salt is still being farmed using traditional techniques and exported all over the world. Thereby combining this use within a natural protected area in which a variety of aquatic birdlife lives.

Hondo Natural Park .
The natural park can be found between the area of Elche and Creveillente and only 10 km from Guardamar del Segura.
This park is included in the international preservation order Ramsar which protects wetlands with specific protection of birds- It is 2495 hectares and is rich in birdlife.
Natural park of Clot de Galvany.
Small area of ponds of about 140 hectares shared between Elche and Santa Pola. It is an important land/sea reserve.
Guardamar del Segura Pine Forest and Dunes.
Emblematic area of Guardamar, almost 14 kms long. This is a protected area with an abundance of
fine sand that has formed into dunes and a variety of plants and trees which are local to this area such as;
Ononix natrix, Psamma arenaria, Tamarix gallica, Pinus halepensis and Pino pinea. This area is totally protected from any future building works. There are many footpaths and areas for the enjoyment of all types of outdoor activities.
Local Countryside .
The valley area around the river Segura is cultivated using both traditional and modern methods, with the most common crop being citrus fruits.
